I believe in dreams. Dreams colored by a vision of moral CHARACTER that shine through every endeavor. Dreams of EXCELLENCE that reflect tomorrow. Dreams of TRUSTING in fairness and justice for all. These were the dreams of our yesterday and of our tomorrow. These are the dreams I have for the position of Justice of the Peace, Precinct 7, Place 1.
In order to achieve these dreams, I am offering myself, CHERYL ELLIOTT THORNTON, as a catalyst for dream fulfillment in the form of my candidacy for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 7, Place 1. This Justice Court is the community court. It serves as a microcosm of all the uphill climbs towards the dreams and hopes of our community. The fight for the dreams are exemplified in the types of cases this Court handles: from the truancy matters which affect both youth and family, to the individual looking for justice for small claims, to the landlord and tenant with eviction disputes. To obtain the true essence of Excellence for our community and our community court, we need someone who exemplifies the true spirit of service not only through her occupation but through her advocation. Someone who holds the moral character to our dreams of fairness and justice for all.
As a public servant who currently serves the greater community as an Assistant County Attorney for Harris County, I have served as General Counsel for Texas Southern University, Administrative Law Judge and Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas as well as a teacher of our youth in both Lone Star College University Park and Houston Community College. I can be that beacon needed to right the ship and steer it clearly towards the future. My public service has continued as I have served as Precinct Chair for Precinct 228, Chair and board member for the Police Advisory board under several police chiefs, Board Member and General Counsel of the World Youth Foundation, board member of the West MacGregor Homeowners Association and fundraiser for The Museum at Texas Southern University, Museum of Fine Arts, and Houston Ebony Opera Guild. I have also been an active member in the National Bar Association, Houston Lawyer Association, Houston Bar Association, the Women Professionals in Government and the Association of Women Attorneys. These organizations have given me insight into the path for excellence we all dream for our Precinct. Please click here to learn more about my background and professional affiliations.
It is the fulfillment of that dream of fairness and justice for all which propels me, CHERYL ELLIOTT THORNTON, to seek the office of Justice of the Peace, Precinct 7, Place 1. I ask you for whatever financial efforts you can render, and most importantly, your VOTE.
